Yonatan Doron serves as a clinical psychologist at the ICAMH-Hadassah clinic for addiction and double diagnosis. He is currently in the final year of his Clinical Psychology internship at Hadassah Ein Kerem Medical Center in Jerusalem. His journey in psychology has been fueled by a deep curiosity about the diversity of human experience—how we seek meaning, connection, and grapple with resistance to change. Yonatan received a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Education, with a qualification in school counseling, from Haifa University. While there, he worked as a research assistant under Dr. Sigal Zilcha-Mano, focusing on the therapeutic alliance in short-term therapy for depression. This work used the rupture and repair model developed by Jeremy D. Safran and J. Christopher Muran, and it highlights the profound impact of alliance-building in therapy. This experience opened Yonatan’s eyes to the importance of assessing and nurturing the therapeutic relationship as a foundation for effective treatment. Yonatan then completed a Master’s degree in Adult Clinical Psychology at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, where he researched patient dropout under the guidance of Prof. Orya Tishby. Collaborating with the university’s counseling center, he explored the link between pre-treatment expectations and the likelihood of treatment continuation. This project strengthened the understanding of patient engagement and the factors influencing commitment to therapy. Yonatan completed a clinical practicum in the Meuchedet Mental Health Clinic in central Jerusalem. There, he practiced a range of therapeutic modalities, including long-term and short-term dynamic therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). He began a clinic psychology internship at Hadassah, first on the adult psychiatric closed ward, where he treated patients with acute mental health conditions. Currently, he works with outpatients in ICAMH-Hadassah clinic for addiction and Double Diagnosis. His passion for understanding addictive behaviors and treating substance abuse disorders led Yonatan to join the new clinic ICAMH-Hadassah clinic, where he can bring his clinical expertise and research background to support individuals on their path to recovery, helping them rebuild their lives with hope and resilience.
