Sagit Mezamer serves as a clinical psychologist at the Azrieli ICAMH-Hadassah clinic for addiction and double diagnosis. She is finalizing her Clinical Psychology internship at the Jerusalem Mental Health Center.  Sagit is a Jerusalem-based clinical psychologist, artist, and curator. She holds an MA in Clinical Psychology (cum laude, 2005) from Tel Aviv University and an MFA from Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design (2009). She employs a psychodynamic approach, integrating CBT techniques for anxiety disorders. Her experience includes intensive day treatment programs (Jerusalem Maon, 2020-2023) and leading therapeutic groups, focusing on community-based rehabilitation. Sagit’s research delves into the psychological, social, and physiological roots of addiction, addressing themes of dislocation and multigenerational trauma, with an emphasis on grassroots healing projects in conflict zones. In 2020, she completed a one-year online training in Compassionate Inquiry, a trauma-informed approach developed by Dr. Gabor Maté that uncovers and releases layers of childhood trauma, often at the root of mental and physical illness and addiction. In 2021, she co-edited the Hebrew translation of Dr. Maté’s In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts with Professor Shauli Lev-Ran. In her artistic work, Sagit explores themes tied to her research. Her solo exhibition, *Mother Opium* (2021), investigated opium’s history in the Middle East and opioid addiction. Her visual essay, *To the Roots*, published in *The Journal of Extreme Anthropology* (2019), reflects on Ibogaine therapy—a psychedelic treatment for addiction derived from the root of the Iboga plant. Since 2014, she has taught at the Fine Art Department at Bezalel Academy and curated exhibitions in Israel and Northern Ireland, including “Nothing but Longing” (Void Gallery, Derry, 2017).
