Born from the vision of Prof. Ariel Kor, ICAMH is a joint project of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the Israel Center on Addiction (ICA), bringing together two complementary entities to create a comprehensive approach to transforming addiction and mentalhealth care in Israel. In this way, ICAMH provides an unique exceptional bridge between the academic and scientific sector and the not-for-profit community.

Professor Ariel Kor

Professor Ariel Kor, our founder and visionary leader, is a “reformed” fund manager, psychologist, social entrepreneur, researcher and philanthropist. Israel-born and Singapore-bred, Ariel spent over a decade of his financial career as the Executive Director of Sampoerna Capital, an Asian multi-billion-dollar private investment fund. Over the past years, Ariel has transitioned into the world of psychology, earning a PhD in clinical psychology from Columbia University, with a focus on addiction. Ariel currently serves as the Founder & Chairman of the Israel Center on Addiction (ICA) and as an Associate Clinical Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
He was formerly a board member of the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf Company, Harel Insurance Group (HARL:TA), and Singapore’s Hour Glass (HG:SP). Ariel commenced his career at Lehman Brothers at the Investment Banking division, and spent multiple years in investment banking, private equity and venture capital. He attained his BA as well as MA from Oxford University. He serves as a board member of Maytiv at Reichman University, Matan (United Way, Israel), as well as the Jewish Funders Network (JFN). He received an honorary doctorate from Bar- Ilan University and is an Honorary Fellow of Reichman University. Ariel is married with five children.

The Israel Center on Addiction (ICA)

The ICA is a national center established in 2018 to spearhead the field of addiction in Israel by providing training, cutting-edge research, policy and advocacy, prevention, and accessible evidence-based treatment. It operates a training public ambulatory clinic for the treatment of addiction in partnership with Lev Hasharon Hospital. ICA operates Israel’s only accredited post-doctoral fellowship in the field of addiction medicine. It also offers long-term intensive
and short-term training for clinicians, educators, the IDF, Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Welfare. ICA also offers development and dissemination of prevention programs across Israeli high schools and communities.
